Vision, Objectives & Milestones of Veterinary& Animal Husbandry Dept.

Objectives:

The mainobjectives of the Animal Husbandry Department are

(1) Health careof Livestock.

(2) DiseaseInvestigation and prevention and control of certain infectious contagiousdiseases.

(3) Feed andFodder Development so as to increase the availability of quality nutrition tothe existing stock to increase their productivity.

(4) Breedimprovement programme through Cross breeding and up grading to increase thegenetic potential of livestock for increased production.

 (5) Extension activities and trainingprogrammes for both the professionals and farmers for better understanding andimplementation of production programmes.

(6)Implementation of various poverty alleviation programmes of Animal Husbandry Departmentof state and Central Governments.

1. 1892: Establishment of Civil Veterinary Department

2. 1944: Establishment of Serum Institute(VBRI) Presently TSVBRI, Hyderabad

3. 1948: C.V.D.renamed as Animal Husbandry Department.

4. 1949: Supply of Breeding Bulls under premium bull Scheme.

5. 1955: Introduction of Key Village Scheme & Artificial Insemination.

6. 1959: Introduction of Cross Breeding Programme.

7. 1961: Establishment of Semen Banks.

8. 1964: Introduction of Intensive Cattle Development Blocks.

9. 1971: Launching of operation Flood I-Biggest Dairy Development Project.

10. 1974: Starting of Intensive Sheep Development Project.

11. 1975: Implementation of Indo- Swiss Project.

12. 1976: Re-organisation of the Animal Husbandry Department

13. 1976: Introduction of Livestock Production Programmes for Weaker Sections.

14. 1977: Formation of A.P. State Meat & Poultry Development Corporation.

25. 2002: Creation of State Management Institute for Livestock Development in A.P. (SMILDA),Presently TSMILD Hyderabad

26. 2004: Foot and Mouth Disease Control Programme

27. 2008: Upgradation of VH Narayanaguda, Hyderabad as Super Speciality Veterinary Hospital

28. 2011: Establishment of Quality Assessment Laboratory (QAL) at Hyderabad
